Practical Theatre skills

We run courses in practical theatre skills, from technical to performance techniques. Some are aimed at adults and some are purely for young people. Our courses are open to members, volunteers and the general public, so if you've always wanted to learn something about theatre, bookmark this page, we're sure to have something for you.

These courses take place at St Ives Theatre. Costs may vary depending on content and duration of the course. Previous courses have included: Basket Weaving, Pattern Making, Costume Making, Stage Management, Circus Skills, Stage Combat. Lighting, Sound.

St Ives School of Speech and Drama (Kidz R Us)

The St Ives School of Speech and Drama provides speech and drama classes for young people. Students are prepared for all grades up to Gold Medal for the examinations of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

LAMDA qualifications are now recognised for UCAS points. The classes are open to all members of the community. It offers classes in Speech Training as well as Acting and Musical Theatre. The classes are led by Barbara Russell, who has taught at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama and delivered training to a wide range of groups from teachers to chief executives.
