Now you know about Kidz R Us, would you like to get involved? The smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd are waiting…
If you’re young and think you might like being in the spotlight, we have new member events in February and August, when you can join our company of performers. And if you’d like to help out behind the scenes in any way you can, we’d love to hear from you!
Take to the Stage
There are two main opportunities to join our award-winning youth theatre group. One is at the start of the new year to coincide with our February Half-Term Theatre Workshops, which offer tuition and guidance from a hand-picked group of theatre professionals from across the country. The other is at new member auditions in August, in preparation for our Christmas panto.
For over two years, Kidz R Us was my home. My musical family was full of laughter, song, tap dancing, 27 costume changes a minute and not crying for Argentina while wearing silver high-heeled sandals. The person most responsible for giving me the opportunity to be truly happy being myself is Phil Barnett, without whom Kidz R Us would not exist. His ceaseless enthusiasm, talent for motivation, absolute kindness and his ability to form a group of noisy kids into an all-singing, all-dancing, all-acting sensation is matched only by his talent for convincing people that having a flower bull-whipped out of their mouth from more than 20 feet away is a brilliant idea!

- The energy is super-charged and top-notch production values mean that yet again, these youngsters put other professional productions in the shade, with every cast member giving it their all – and a live (yes, live!) band makes this an incredible evening’s entertainment and great value for money. It was clear that everyone performing and watching loved every minute, and we couldn’t wait to join the well-deserved standing ovation.

- I brought my daughter to see Disney’s The Little Mermaid last week, first time I’d been to a Kidz R Us show and I absolutely loved it! (As did she of course!) We were completely spellbound the whole show and she is still talking about it a week later (she’s three so that’s no small compliment!). The children in the show were fabulous, such confidence and stage presence! A massive, massive well done and thank you for a wonderful show.

- My son and I have just seen tonight’s performance of Grease and we both loved it – we couldn’t help but sing along. As we left and walked up the road, we listened to what others were saying about the show, and everyone was saying: ‘fantastic’, ‘best show so far’, ‘the singing was amazing’, ‘very talented youngsters’.
